BRANDS I LOVE: THE ORDINARY

I first heard about The Ordinary from skincare vlogger Rosshana Bracho, a Venezuelan YouTube star based in Mexico City, I remember she mentioned she rarely tried drugstore brands because for a little bit more money she could get really good products from The Ordinary, of course I was thrilled.

La primera vez que escuché de The Ordinary fue por la vlogger Rosshana Bracho, una Venezolana estrella de YouTube con base en México, recuerdo que le preguntaban porqué no reseñaba cremas de farmacia y ella comentaba que no las usa porque por un poco más de dinero de lo que cuestan estas cremas podía comprar productos muy buenos de The Ordinary, así que estaba intrigada.

I immediately researched the brand and from the moment I landed on their site I was in love. The Ordinary is a skincare brand from DECIEM, first of all, the brand’s slogan is “clinical formulations with integrity” so that says a lot, but I want to share with you some key points I found on their site about the brand.

The Ordinary is an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar, effective clinical technologies positioned to raise pricing and communication integrity in skincare. The brand was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form. Its offering is pioneering, not in the familiar technologies it uses, but in its honesty and integrity. The Ordinary is born to disallow commodity to be disguised as ingenuity. The Ordinary is “Clinical formulations with integrity“.

Inmediatamente investigué sobre la marca, y desde que llegué a su página me enamoré. The Ordinary es una línea de productos para el cuidado de la piel de DECIEM, y primero que nada, el slogan de la marca es “fórmulas clínicas con integridad” lo cual dice mucho, pero quiero compartirles unos puntos super importantes que encontré en su sitio

The Ordinary es una colección en evolución de tratamientos que ofrece tecnologías clínicas familiares y efectivas posicionadas para aumentar la integridad de precios y comunicación en la industria del cuidado de la piel. What does this mean? The Ordinary’s core value is integrity, a value rare in the beauty industry, the brand’s team is specialized in chemistry and biochemistry, most beauty companies market their products as groundbreaking at incredibly high prices when truth is most of their ingredients are commonplace and not as advanced as they make them out to be.

El valor principal de The Ordinary es la integridad, un valor raro en la industria cosmetológica, el equipo de la marca está especializado en química y bioquímica, y es por ello que The Ordinary no ha sido bien recibida por otras marcas del rubro ya que la mayoría de las compañías de belleza en el mercado venden sus productos como innovadores y a precios altísimos cuando en realidad la mayoría de sus ingredientes son ordinarios y no tan avanzados como los hacen parecer.

The Ordinary existe para comunicar con integridad y traer al mercado tecnologías efectivas y más familiares a precios honorables. Having said that, The Ordinary and DECIEM are not very welcomed brands in the beauty industry, because they’re showing people you can have high quality molecules at super accessible prices, they focus on teaching people about each one of their products, what they contain, how they work and everything that you should know before trying them, the website is super refreshing as it is completely transparent to its customers, and they’re always willing to give out any information requested.

It is also important to mention that their products are free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury and oxybenzone. They also don’t do animal testing nor pay any other companies to do so, hence the products can’t be found in China.

Habiendo dicho esto, The Ordinary y DECIEM no son marcas muy queridas por la industria cosmética, ya que le están demostrando a la gente que puedes tener moléculas de alta calidad a precios bastante accesibles, se enfocan en enseñarle a la gente sobre cada uno de sus productos, lo que contienen, cómo funcionan y todo lo que debes saber antes de probarlos, su sitio es super refrescante ya que es totalmente transparente con el consumidor y siempre están dispuestos a darte la información que solicites.

Es importante mencionar que sus productos son libres de parabenos, sulfatos, aceite mineral, metilcloroisotiazolinona, metilisotiazolinona, aceites animales, tintes de alquitran de hulla, folmadehido, mercurio y oxibenzona. Tampoco hacen pruebas en animales ni le pagan a otras compañías por hacerlo, es por ello que sus productos no se venden en China.

I liked this product, but to be honest, I think the only plus I see to this against the powdered L-ascorbic acid, is that this is easier and faster to apply if you’re in a rush, it’s still a great product, but I’d choose the other one. // Este me gustó, pero siendo honesta, creo que su único beneficio contra el polvo de ácido ascórbico, es que este es más fácil y rápido de aplicar si tienes poco tiempo, es un buen producto, pero en lo personal, elegiría el otro.

I loved this moisturizer, it is so soft, I love it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling and that it absorbs super quickly, I also like the fact that it is perfume free, another benefit I see to this is that it lasts forever, as you only need a very small amount for your entire face. // Me encanta este humectante, es muy suave, no deja sensación grasosa y se absorbe muy rápido, también me gusta que no tiene perfume, además de que dura un montón ya que solo se necesita una cantidad muy pequeña para toda la cara.
