MONOCHROME IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA
Hey there humans! How cool is this wall behind me? Awesome! I know! 🙂 Today I want to share this look with you, once again, weather is warm enough for me to incorporate a traditional Mexican garment into the fold, this time I’m wearing a hand woven top from Oaxaca that I got as a gift from a local online store that sells typical clothes from Oaxaca.
¡Hola humanos! ¿a poco no está padrísima la pared de bugambilias detrás de mí? Me encanta 🙂 hoy quiero compartirte éste look, por fin el clima está lo suficientemente cálido para incorporar prendas tradicionales Mexicanas al juego, en ésta ocasión estoy usando una blusa tejida a mano de Oaxaca, que me regalaron de una tienda en línea que vende ropa típica de Oaxaca (¡gracias Raque!)
I was really looking forward to wearing this, so as soon as it got warm enough I took it out for a spin, the desing is beautiful and it’s super fresh, you’ve no idea how much I love it, for a more contemporary look I paired it with these high waisted shorts from H&M’s conscious line that I got a couple of weeks ago, and my leather espadrilles. I think there’s always a way to incorporate traditional pieces into current outfits and making them cool again, don’t you think? Is there any traditional pieces from your country you wear?
Moría de ganas de usar ésta blusa, así que en cuanto hizo calorcito la saqué a pasear, el diseño del tejido es hermoso, y es una blusa de lo más fresco, no tienes idea de cuánto la amo, para un look más contemporáneo la combiné con éstos shorts de cintura alta de la línea conscious de H&M que compré hace un par de semanas, y mis alpargatas de piel. Creo que siempre hay un modo de incorporar prendas tradicionales en looks actuales y volverlas cool de nuevo ¿no? ¿hay alguna prenda tradicional de tu país que uses?

It’s been a while since I last wore my huipil on the blog, so I though I’d sneak it in for this fall’s outfits, this time I paired it with a vegan leather jacket, and sandals, because we have a warm fall over here and I can still get away with wearing sandals some days, these amazing pictures were taken by my talented brother, I swear we had so much fun shooting that day, it was a great time, we laughed and talked and shared a moment, it’s our moment you know? when he takes pictures of me, he’s been doing it for years now, and that day we were remembering how he helped me take pictures for my first blog about 7 years ago, so if you want to see more of his work you can do it by clicking here. Hace tiempo que usé mi huipil en el blog, así que pensé que lo incluiría en un look para otoño, en ésta ocasión con una chaqueta de cuero vegano y sandalias, porque tenemos un cálido otoño aquí en Aguascalientes y aún puedo salirme con la mía y usarlas algunos días, éstas increíbles fotos las tomó mi súper talentoso hermano, nos divertimos un montón tomando fotos ese día, nos reimos mucho, platicamos y compartimos un rato, ese es nuestro rato ¿sabes? cuando me toma fotos, lo ha estado haciendo desde hace años, y ese día estabamos recordando cómo me ayudaba con las fotos para mi primer blog hace como siete años, así que si quieres ver más de su trabajo de fotografía haz click aquí. As you may know from what I told you on thursday’s post, yesterday (September 16th) and on the 16th’s eve we celebrate our Independence Day here in Mexico, and that inspired me to collaborate with a fellow Mexican blogger on a mutual guest post where we talked about fashion in the country, now, on that post I linked back to her blog, so you could see the pictures I took and read my answers to the questions we asked each other, but as the post was only in Spanish (sorry for that) I thought that maybe some of you wouldn’t know to click through to see the details of my outfit, so here it is.
Como sabrán, el día de ayer (16 de septiembre) y la víspera del mismo, celebramos el Día de la Independencia de México, y estar viviendo “el mes patrio” me inspiró a colaborar con una amiga blogger Mexicana escribiendo artículos simultaneos donde ambas dabamos nuestras opiniones sobre el mundo de la moda en el país, en ese post había un link a su blog, donde podías ver mis respuestas a las mismas preguntas y los detalles de mi look para ese día de noches mexicanas y el Grito de Independencia, pero en caso de que algunos de ustedes no entraran a ver su blog, les dejo aquí los detalles de el outfit que seleccioné.
Ever since I started fashion school, and especially when I took my Mexican Costume History class I started to really appreciate the hand made traditional mexican clothing, a few days ago I got this beautiful hand embroidered top from a friend, she got it in her town located in Oaxaca (UPDATE: some of you asked me here and over instagram about the top, you can get them by clicking here, she shipps internationally), and brought it home to me, I was absolutely in love with it, so I decided I’d incorporate it in my everyday wardrobe mixing this traditional Oaxacan piece with some more contemporary items such as skinnies and stilletos to keep it current, after all, we don’t want these traditions to die and get lost. Desde que entré a la carrera de diseño de modas, y especialmente después de mi materia de Historia del Vestido Mexicano, comencé a apreciar aún más la ropa artesanal mexicana, hace algunos días me llegó ésta bellísima blusa bordada a mano, regalo de una amiga (ACTUALIZACIÓN: muchas de ustedes me preguntaron aquí y en instagram que dónde las conseguían, pueden hacerlo entrando aquí, hacen envíos a todo México e Internacionales), me la trajo de su pueblo en Oaxaca, quedé enamorada, así que decidí que se volvería una prenda regular en mi guardarropa, mezclándola con prendas más actuales, como los skinny jeans y los tacones como éstos, no queremos que éstas tradiciones se pierdan y mueran. ¿Qué opinas? ¿Lo usarías?
