I’m pretty sure that by know you know that Korean beauty products are all the rage, especially when it comes to face masks, there’s a lot from where to choose, so I finally gave into the hype and decided to try this one, it’s from Korean brand Ettang and it’s the charcoal one that’s supposed to help your skin purify and detox, I got it at Sally’s and had it sitting on a shelf for probably two weeks, but last week I finally decided to take the plunge and go for it, so keep reading to find out more about my experience.
Estoy segura de que en éste punto, ya todos saben lo populares que se han vuelto los productos de belleza Coreanos, sobre todo cuando se trata de mascarillas faciales ha un montón de dónde elegir, así que me uní a la tendencia y decidí probar ésta, es de la marca Ettang, es la de carbón que se supone te ayuda a purificar y desintoxicar la piel, la compré en Sally Beauty, ($59.00MXN) y la tuve en una repisa durante las últimas semanas, pero el fin de semana pasado por fin me aventé y decidí probarla, así que sigue leyendo para que te enteres de mi experiencia.
Truth is, I think the packaging is really cute, and practical, you can just throw it out after you’re done, I suggest that you share it with your best friend, mom, sister, whatever, cause this has enough for two pretty faces. I didn’t know this (but I suspected it) and ended up with about half the product left, I don’t know if saving it in the fridge works, but I did (it’s been two days since I tried it and maybe today I’ll give it a try to see if this works or is worthless, I’ll update later on.)
La verdad, el empaque se me hizo muy lindo y práctico, porque lo puedes botar después de que acabes, te sugiero que lo compartas con tu mejor amiga, mamá, hermana, con quien sea, porque tiene suficiente para dos lindos rostros. Yo no sabía esto (pero lo sospeché) y terminé con casi la mitad del producto sobrando, no sé si sirva guardarla en el refrigerador, pero eso hice (han pasado dos días desde que la usé y quizá hoy intente volver a usarla a ver si aún está buena o no sirvió de nada, más adelante agrego una actualización.)
The instructions are quite simple (even for those of us who don’t speak Korean) you just have to pour a cup of water to fill the little bowl until it reaches the line on the inside of it, and then you just have to stir for a couple of minutes, I suggest you do it clockwise and counter clockwise, you don’t want for your paste to have any lumps in it, once it looks gooey and smooth that means it’s ready to apply, but also, make sure you don’t take too long stirring, cause it will become useless.
Las instrucciones son bastante simples, aún para aquellos que no hablamos Coreano, sólo tienes que ponerle agua al recipiente y asegurarte de que llegue hasta la marquita interna del mismo, después de ésto, sólo mézclalo por un par de minutos, te sugiero que lo hagas en ambas direcciones para evitar los grumos, ya que se vea como una goma y no tenga grumos significa que está lista para aplicar, recuerda que no quieres tardarte mucho mezclando porque entonces se hace medio dura y se vuelve inservible.
Now it’s time to apply it, make sure you do this in the bathroom as it can get a little messy if it’s the first time you’re working with a mask of this kind. You’ll have to start with a clean face and make sure all your hair is pulled back, I didn’t think of this and got the goo all stuck to the little hairs on my hairline and when removal time came it was a pain. Use the little spatula to apply it, try to get it evenly distributed along your face and to not make it too thin, you want to get a nice thick layer, this will make removal easier.
Ahora es hora de aplicarla, asegúrate de hacerlo en el baño porque puedes hacer todo un desastre si es la primera vez que usas una mascarilla de éste tipo. Empieza con tu rostro limpio y también te sugiero que recojas súper bien tu cabello, yo no pensé en esto y la pasta se pegó en los cabellitos de mi frente y a la hora de quitármela fue horrible. Usa la pequeña espátula para aplicarla e intenta distribuirla uniformemente en tu cara, no la hagas muy delgada, en realidad quieres una capa algo gruesa, ésto hace que removerla sea más sencillo.
What’s next? Well, once you’ve covered all your pretty face (avoiding mouth, eyes and nosethrills) you just relax and wait for twenty minutes, this is the perfect time to just lounge around in your living room snap chatting (so I’ve heard) and sending ugly selfies to your boyfriend and friends, cause that’s how true love is shown, as the twenty minutes go by and all your “I’m melting” jokes stop being funny, you’ll feel how the mask dries and makes your face look stiff, which is kind of weird cause on the inside side of the mask it still feels moist (cringe at using that word) and super fresh.
¿Qué sigue? Ya que cubriste toda tu cara (evitando boca, ojos y fosas nasales) sólo tienes que relajarte y esperar veinte minutos, éste es el momento perfecto para acostarte en la sala y ponerlo en snapchat (me han contado), también puedes mandarles selfies horribles a tu novio y amigos, porque esa es una muestra de amor verdadero, mientras pasan los veinte minutos y todos tus chistes de “me derrito” pierden la gracia, sentirás como la mascarilla se va secando y tu cara se siente algo tiesa, lo cual es medio extraño porque en la parte interior se sigue sintiendo húmeda y súper fresca.
Once it’s dry you can admire your awesome new shark skin (cause I imagine that’s how shark skin feels), next step is taking it off, grab it by the chin and pull it off, it should ideally come off all at once, but if you didn’t distribute it evenly this is where it gets tricky, once it’s completely off you can rinse your face with cold water to wipe off any difficult parts that got stuck to your face (cause let’s face it, nobody’s perfect) and there you go!
Ya que está seca, puedes admirar u nueva e increíble piel de tiburón (porque me imagino que así se siente la piel de un tiburón), después es momento de quitártela, agárrala de una orilla como cerca de la barbilla y levántala, idealmente deberías poder quitarla de una sola, pero si no la aplicaste en una capa uniforme es cuando se vuelve un poco complicado, ya que la logras retirar puedes enjuagar tu cara con agua fría para quitar cualquier residuo que pueda haber quedado (porque siendo honestas, nadie es perfecta) ¡y listo!
Let’s talk about before (left) and after (right), I felt my skin so soft, and I don’t know if this is the right word for it but it felt lighter, maybe cleaner? I felt it get a bit flushed, I don’t know if maybe this mask stimulates your blood flow, but it really was a wonderful experience, it’s been a couple of days since I used it and I haven’t had the need to use my beloved pore minimizer or any foundation at all, I feel my skin is brighter. Ahora hablemos del antes (izquierda) y después (derecha), mi piel se sintió súper suave y no sé si sea la palabra correcta, pero estaba ligera, ¿quizá más limpia? Sentí que se chapeteó un poco, no sé si sea porque a lo mejor ésta mascarilla estimula la circulación sanguinea, pero fue una experiencia maravillosa, han pasado un par de días desde que la usé y no he sentido la necesidad de usar mi minimizador de poros o base para nada, siento que mi piel está más brillante.
