NYFW: LIU YONG X RISHIKENSH

Famed Chinese designer Liu Yong collaborated with Rishikensh on their Spring/Summer 2020 capsule, presenting an unapologetic streetwear collection that gave new meaning to the athleisure category.

The collection was bold in color, tie-dye centric, yet very monochromatic. Redefining street style, the collection unfolded with neon blue, orange, and green jumpsuits, tank tops and t-shirts, layered with perforated-mesh overcoats and hoodies. Clear raincoats with neon piping accessorized several looks, allowing for the colorful silhouettes to breakthrough on the runway.

The tie-dye process the designer abides by is less traditional than other brands, “We first make each look and then tie-dye the completed piece, using organic dye colors; where as many tie-dye the fabric before constructing the look.” the designer explained. Liu Yong even tie-dyed fleece hoodies and jackets and used a plethora of black dye, for a unique, monochromatic take on typical tie-dye style.

Showcasing some pint-sized wear, but keeping the swag strong, kids rocked the runway with looks inspired by the womens and menswear. Graphic prints, knee high tube socks and cross body bags hit the runway – no minimum age required.

The designer presented a collection that truly exuberated confidence to a fully packed house at Spring Studios for the sixth day of NYFW.

Liu Yong is regarded as one of the top 10 fashion designers in China; sitting on multiple boards for several Chinese fashion associations. He has been a respected consultant to many fashion groups in China for over 15 years; since the inception of his namesake brand.

The designer wanted to evoke athleisure as a feeling, a sense of slow fashion, by way of the apparel design and production process. Describing his streetwear, “Whether it’s yoga or dancing, you can do so in any of the designs – with a concentrated attitude. We use the softest cotton and other recycled textiles, so that our customer feels comfortable and concious” continued Yong.

FASHION MONTH: 7 BEAUTY TRENDS FOR SS19

It seems like we are already yearning for warmer days, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing them any time soon, and since we’re probably already tired of winter dressing and looking forward to lighter outfits, I thought I’d bring you something to inject some summer vibes to your days until we do get those much desired sunny days and spring-y outfits, and that is, spring make up trends you can try since now.

BRIGHTLY COLORED LIDS

1

Super saturated lids with the brightest of hues are all the rage this season, try it on eyeshadow, eyeliner and even your mascara, pro tip, stick to one shade, unless you’re feeling adventurous and want to try the watercolor shades we saw at Lanyu.

GLITTER LIDS

2

Glitter is not only for this past holiday season or toddlers, wear it this spring as eyeshadow for either day or night time, just make sure to keep the rest of your makeup minimal.

NO MAKEUP MAKEUP

3

This season is all about showing off your beautiful natural complection, nice “makeupless” looks that showcase healthy and dewy skin are absolutely a must try this coming spring.

SUBTLE EYESHADOW AND PINK LIPS

4

Keeping with the more natural line we’re following this season, looks that give a little bit of color to the eyelids and cheeks are perfect for daytime, top it off with some pink lips and you’re good to go.

SMOKEY EYES

5

Seems like the smokey eye isn’t going anywhere, so make sure to try it for some night time ocasions, just, as always, make sure to keep your lips natural and the rest of your make up minimal.

BOLD RED LIPS

6

One of my favorites, minimal make up, groomed brows, subtle blush and a bright bold red lip that will instantly make you look more put together, this is my go to for those days when I don’t have the time to do my whole face and I still want/need to look like I made an effort.

GRAPHIC EYELINER

7

Probably one of the most daunting looks, this is not for the faint of heart, but it will certainly make an impact, it can be as toned down as the graphic cat eye we saw at Rochas or as bold as the graffiti inspired looks at Dior.

END OF SEASON CRAVINGS…

It seems like summer has slipped through our hands and fall is right around the corner (believe me I’m the saddest about that) so here are some pieces that I think we need in our closet to enjoy the last warm days of the year and that are still available through Zaful‘s website.

TOO HOT OUTSIDE

TOO HOT OUTTOO HOT OUT_1

Please ignore the bruises on my legs from too much pole fitness-ing haha, they do get some stares I gotta admit, to me they feel like honor badges, something to feel proud of, cause they usually mean I finally got a new possition just right.

This was a rather hot weekend, I could barely stand the heat, it’s that awful heat that makes you want to lay in a vegetative state for days on end, this wasn’t such a productive weekend, but I still managed to get important things done, like, you know, binge watching the entire Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt third season in a day, shoot for the blog, be somewhat sociable, get some shopping done and, oh who am I kidding, it was a productive weekend haha, this fact doesn’t make mondays suck any less, but here’s some outfit inspiration to get you through it.

What did you do over the weekend? Was it a productive or lazy one?
