WHICH KIND OF TOPS DO I NEED IN MY CLOSET

Hey there guys! So today I’m gonna be taking a little bit about the kinds of tops we all need in our wardrobe to put together some killer outfits without spending a lot, so if you’re in a budget or just the saving kind, this might help, so keep reading 🙂

Hola!! Hoy les voy a contar un poco sobre los tops  que todas necesitamos en nuestro guardarropa para armar outfits bastante cool, sin tener que gastar mucho, así que si tienes que ajustarte a un presupuesto o sólo eres ahorradora, ésto te puede servir, así que sigue leyendo 🙂

TANK TOP

There’s always a great variety from where to chose in the tank top department, you can go with a fitted cut like the one on your right, or a more relaxed one like the one on the left, there are some whose lenght are closer to a tunnic than to a t-shirt, but they’ll do anyway, these you can pair them with skirts, shorts, jeans, wideleg pants, etc, the possibilities are endless, especially now that you know about the power of layering! You can be wearing these year round, this summer I’d wear a black tank with a) a pencil skirt, a statement piece of jewelry and flat sandals, b) denim shorts, flat sandals and a foulard c) white jeans, a simple piece of jewelry and black strappy heels, d) boyfriend jeans (cuffed of course), white sneakers and a bomber jacket in case it gets chilly at night.

Siempre hay mucha variedad para elegir en lo que a tank tops se refiere, puedes elegir uno con un corte ajustado como en la imagen de la derecha, o uno más flojito como en la de la izquierda, hay algunos con un largo más parecido al de una túnica que al de una playera, pero cualquiera de los dos funciona, ya depende más de tus gustos, se pueden usar con faldas, shorts, jeans, pantalones anchos, etc. las posibilidades son enormes, especialmentente ahora que conocemos sobre el poder del layering, ésta es una de esas prendas que puedes usar durante todo el año. Éste verano creo que yo la usaría en color negro con a) una falda entubada, un collar grandote y sandalias de piso, b) shorts de mezclilla, sandalias de piso y un foulard, c) jeans blancos, un collar o alguna pieza de joyería muy minimalista y sandalias de tacón negras d)boyfriend jeans (doblados en la parte baja), tenis blancos y una chaqueta estilo bomber en caso de que enfríe por la noche.

SHORT SLEEVE T-SHIRT

This one, along with probably a pair of Levis’ are as basic+classic as it gets, especially the white tee, which was made popular in the 50’s, and from then on it’s been seen everywhere, from workers to red carpets to runways, why? because they look great with everything, try thinking of a way you wouldn’t like to wear it? I thought so. So while you’re at it pick one up and maybe experiment with other colors such as gray and black.

Ésta clase de prenda superior al mismo tiempo que un par de jeans Levis’ es lo más básico y clásico del mundo, su uso se popularizó en los 50’s y desde entonces la vemos en todos lados, desde las clases obreras hasta alfombras rojas y pasarelas, ¿por qué? ¡porque se ven geniales con todo! Intenta pensar en algún outfit con el que no la usarías, eso pensé… Así que mientras tanto consigue una y ya que estás en eso, ¿por qué no pruebas otros colores como negro o gris?

DENIM/CHAMBRY SHIRT

Denim shirts are by now a classic and a must have, I especially like pairing mine with more denim to get a Canadian tuxedo (like in this look I posted a couple of months ago) but like in the picture above it’s always a good idea to pair them with some colorful pants, skinny or wide leg, anything goes, you can layer them over a tank top or t-shirt, you can wear them all buttoned up with an amazing statement necklace, they work well with pencil skirts, flare skirts, short shorts, bermudas, the possibilities are endless, but they are definitely for a more relaxed vibe. I believe this is an all ages (really!) basic and that you shouldn’t be afraid to try it, just, give it a shot, like I said, it’s just clothes!

Las camisas de mezclilla se han vuelto un clásico y una prenda que debes tener en tu guardarropa, yo en especial adoro combinar la mía con más mezclilla para armar lo que comúnmente se conoce como “smoking Canadiense” (así como en este look de hace unos meses), pero como vemos en la imagen de arriba siempre es buena idea usarlas con pantalones de colores, ya sean skinny o amplios, todo se vale, la puedes usar sobre un tank top o una playera, la puedes usar abotonada hasta arriba con algún collar llamativo, funcionan también con faldas entubadas, faldas amplias, shorts cortos, bermudas, hay muchísimas, muchísimas posibilidades, pero es una prenda que en su mayoría se usa para un look más casual y relajado. Y aunque no lo creas es una prenda apta para todas las edades, ¡de verdad! y a la que no le debes tener miedo, inténtalo, como ya dije, ¡sólo es ropa!

WHITE SHIRT

One of my life motto’s is “You can never have too many white shirts.” (you can quote me on thar) as of this moment I own 7 white shirts and I’m pretty sure that if I run into another one that fits me and I like, I’ll most likely end up changing that number to 8, white shirts are amazing, they can work for any look you’re aiming, they can be super dressy and office apropriate, or as relaxed and informal as you see fit (see above picture) and the cool thing about them is that even when they’re a basic you can always find different ones to get. My favourite ways to style them for summer? A total white look with white shorts and espadrilles, with a flare midi skirt, heels and a statement necklace, tucked in with denim short shorts and Birkenstock sandals, half tucked in with cuffed boyfriend jeans and strappy heels, with wide leg pants a structured blazer and chunky heels.

Una de mis frases favoritas en la vida es “Nunca puedes tener demasiadas camisas blancas” (puedes citarme) al día de hoy tengo siete camisas blancas y estoy muy segura de que si me encontrara otra que me quede a la perfección y me encante, probablemente terminaré cambiando ese número por un ocho, las camisas blancas son geniales, pueden funcionar con cualquier tipo de look que quieras lograr, pueden ser súper formales, o relajadas e informales como desees (como en la imagen de arriba) y lo más padre de ellas es que aún cuando son un básico siempre vas a encontrar una con un detallito diferente que tengas que comprar. Mis looks favoritos con ellas éste verano incluyen: un outfit totalmente blanco con shorts blancos y alpargatas, con una falda midi, tacones y un collar llamativo, fajada con shorts cortos de mezclilla y sandalias Birkenstock, medio fajada con boyfriend jeans y sandalias de tacón y con pantalones amplios, un blazer estructurado y sandalias de tacón grueso.

Se hizo famosa por l’enfant terrible de la moda, Jean Paul Gaultier, se ha vuelto una pieza icónica en el guardarropa de toda mujer con estilo, perfecta para todas las temporadas puede usarse para un look con inspiración naútica, la puedes combinar súper fácil con otro estampado, o crear un look más fresa con chinos y mocasines, entre muchos otros, la verdad es que este top me salva muchos días de otoño cuando no sé muy bien qué ponerme.
