6 BLOGGING MISTAKES YOU’RE MAKING

Hey there fellow bloggers and perhaps aspiring bloggers, ever since 2017 started I thought it was time that I started sharing with you some of my blogging knowledge, which has been acquired over the past year, by research, trial and error, and personal experience, today I want to compile a list of common blogging mistakes we all make, in hopes that you’ll learn from these and won’t fall into them yourself.

Hola amigos bloggers y quizá aspirantes a bloggers, desde que comenzó el 2017 creí que era momento de empezar a compartir con ustedes algunos de mis conocimientos sobre ésto de tener un blog, los cuales han sido adquiridos durante el último año, investigando, prueba y error, y experiencias personales, hoy quiero hacer una lista de errores que todos cometemos, esperando que aprendas de ellos y no caigas en los mismos.

YOU’RE NOT CREATING CONTENT | NO CREAS CONTENIDO

Let’s be honest, there’s tens of thousands of blogs out there, and there’s probably a lot of information out there about the same topic, and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve come across posts that are carbon copies of each other, especially those with “blog post ideas for ________ blogs” the other day I ran into a post about how to grow your Instagram following that was literally a copy-paste from another one, so, one thing that’s going to help you stand out from all the other bloggers on your niche, is creating content, I don’t care if it’s a post about how to create a style moodboard, if I’m googling it, I want to come across 10 different posts, each one showing me 10 different ways on how to do this, not 1 single post repeated 10 times, see what I’m getting at?

Seamos honestos, hay miles de blogs ahí afuera, y probablemente hay muchísima información sobre un mismo tema, pero la verdad es que me he topado con posts que son copias los unos de los otros, en especial cuando se trata de “ideas de posts para blogs de ____________”, el otro día me encontré con un post sobre como crecer tus seguidores de Instagram que literal era un copiar-pegar de uno anterior, neta no hay nada más decepcionante que eso, algo que te va a ayudar a sobresalir de entre todos los blogs en tu nicho, es crear contenido, no me importa si es un post de equis tema, si lo estoy buscando en google, quiero encontrarme con 10 posts diferentes, cada uno con una manera diferente de hacer las cosas, no uno solo repetido diez veces, ¿ves hacia dónde voy?

YOU’RE NOT ENGAGING | NO TE ESTÁS RELACIONANDO

One thing people like about blogs is that they can relate easier, and that they can create feedback that’ll be actually read by the blogger, people like to know their input is important, on the other hand, bloggers like to know when someone likes what they’re doing, so it’s pretty much a two way street, try to start a conversation, ask your followers questions so that they can engage with you, and if they do, reply, like their comments, if a fellow blogger comments, visit their site, stop by, like their content, say hi, seriosuly, you’ve no idea how good this works.

Algo que la gente disfruta de los blogs, es que se pueden relacionar con su contenido más facilmente, y que pueden dar retroalimentación que será leída por el blogger, a la gente le gusta saber que su opinión es importante, por otro lado, a los bloggers nos gusta saber que a la gente le gusta nuestro trabajo, es una calle de dos sentidos, intenta empezar una conversación, has preguntas en tus posts para que la gente pueda participar, si otro blogger te comenta, visita su blog, dale like a sus comentarios, salúdalo, de verdad no sabes la diferencia que éstos detalles hacen.

YOU’RE TRYING TO BE SOMEONE ELSE | ESTÁS INTENTANDO SER ALGUIEN MÁS

I think this is pretty self-explanatory, just, be your awesome brilliant self, people will love you, I promise, and those who don’t, well that’s their loss, but I swear more people will like the real you than a copy of some one else, role models are okay, those are encouraged, copy cats are not, people will know when you’re just playing a role, so just relax and do you.

Creo que ésta no necesita mucha explicación, sólo, se tu misma, la gente te amará, lo promento, y aquellos a quienes no les agrade quién eres, pues se la pierden, pero te juro que más gente amará la versión real de tí, que una imitación de alguien más, los modelos a seguir están bien, pero las copias de alguien más para nada lo están, la gente se da cuenta de cuando alguien no es real, así que relájate y se tú.

YOU DON’T HAVE A CONTACT PAGE | NO TIENES UNA PÁGINA DE CONTACTO

Let’s get real, most of us want to make a living from full time blogging at some point, but how are you going to get in touch with possible sponsors, advertisors, brands, etc, if there’s not a way to contact you? Go ahead and add that contact page ASAP and make it visible.

Dejémonos de cosas, la mayoría de nosotros quiere vivir de trabajar en su blog tiempo completo en algún momento, pero ¿cómo se van a poner en contacto los posibles patrocinadores, anunciantes, marcas, etc, si no hay un modo de contactarte? Corre y agrega esa página de contacto lo más pronto posible, y déjala a la vista.

YOU’RE NOT USING SEO | NO ESTÁS USANDO EL SEO

SEO helps search engines to find your blog when someone’s looking for something, now, I’m not an expert on the subject, but there’s tons of posts that explain in detail how to play it to your advantage, so go on, research, and start using those tags!

El SEO ayuda a los buscadores a encontrar tu blog cuando alguien está buscando algo, la verdad es que no soy experta en el tema, pero hay montones de posts que explican detalladamente cómo usarlo a tu favor, así que ve, investiga y empieza a usar las etiquetas adecuadas.

YOUR BLOG LAYOUT IS CONFUSING | EL DISEÑO DE TU BLOG ES CONFUSO

This is a really important one, please, pleeeaaaseee, take a look at your blog every so often, there’s nothing more frustrating than going to somebody’s blog only to find it is confusing AF, if I’ve no idea where I can find your posts, or where can I find the comment section, or the follow button, I sure as hell won’t be coming back, same goes for your links, it happens a lot that someone leaves a comment, and when I go to check out their blog the link takes me to a page that says it was deleted from wordpress, this happens a lot when you change to a custom domain name, so make sure your links are working properly, you could be losing a great deal of traffic there.

Éste punto es super importante, por favor, por favoooor, revisa tu blog de vez en cuando, no hay nada más frustrante que ir al blog de alguien, sólo para encontrar que es de lo más confuso, si no tengo ni idea de cómo encontrar tus posts, o de dónde agregar un comentario o seguirte, ten por seguro que no regresaré, lo mismo con los links, algo que me pasa súper seguido es que cuando alguien me deja un comentari y quiero ir a su blog, muchas veces el link me manda a una página de wordpress que me dice que el sitio ha sido borrado, ésto suele suceder cuando cambiamos a un dominio propio, así que asegúrate que tus links funcionan bien, podrías estar perdiendo bastante tráfico ahí.
