TRAVEL GUIDE | SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

Hey there guys! It’s been a while since I last made a travel guide for you guys, but I haven’t really been anywhere new until now, so, a couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 5th anniversary, and decided to take a long weekend in San Miguel de Allende to celebrate.

San Miguel de Allende is a colonial town, not too far from our hometown (about 3hrs drive) in the state of Guanajuato, central Mexico, and it’s been deemed a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO, in 2008 Travel + Leisure crowned it the best city in the world.

¡Hola! Ha pasado algo de tiempo desde la última vez que les hice una guía de viaje, pero la verdad es que no había ido a ningún lugar nuevo hasta ahora, y es que hace unas semanas, mi novio y yo celebramos nuestro quinto aniversario juntos, y decidimos pasar un fin de semana largo en San Miguel de Allende para celebrar.

San Miguel de Allende es un pueblo colonial, no muy lejos de donde vivimos (como a tres horas manejando) en el estado de Guanajuato, en el bajío de México, ha sido nombrado patrimonio cultural de la humanidad por la UNESCO y en 2008 Travel + Leisure la llamó la mejor ciudad en el mundo.

WHERE TO STAY

The city has tons of lodging options from hostels to luxury spas passing through Air BnB’s it all depends as always, on your budget, we stayed at the Maria Bonita Hotel, a small hotel that’s perfectly located a couple of blocks from most of the landmarks of the city, a perfect walking distance. The only tip that matters: book way ahead of time, as this is one of the bussiest turistic towns in the country.

La ciudad cuenta con montones de opciones de hospedaje, desde hostales hasta spas de lujo, pasando por Air BnBs, todo depende como siempre, de tu presupuesto, nosotros nos quedamos en un pequeño hotel super bien ubicado, llamado Maria Bonita Hotel, a tan solo unas cuadras de los principales puntos de interés en la ciudad. Lo único que realmente importa: reserva con anticipación, porque todo se llena debido a que este es uno de los lugares más turísticos del país.

WHERE TO SHOP

All the streets that surround the main square have amazing galleries and stores that carry high end Mexican designers, for artesanías (crafts) I suggest el Mercado de Artesanías. Doce18 also has some great shops and Codigo Postal Design. For amazing pottery go to Trinitate.
