Hi there! As you know I’ve become a little bit obsessed with skincare lately and it’s just that I’m super happy cause ever since I started practising religiously my skincare routine I’ve seen so many positive results and I feel my skin looks better than ever, but you know, it’s not all about the products you use (of course they help), but there are some things that won’t cost you extra and will help have healthier skin.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION AT HOME
These days there are many great products out there that can help your skin in all sorts of ways, but none will work their best if you don’t periodically help out your skin to better absorb them by exfoliating it, now, in the past we used to think mechanical exfoliation was the best (think sugar scrubs and so), but now we know that is rather abrasive for your skin, these days, chemical exfoliation is all the rage, I know, this may sound a little daunting and you may think this should only be done by a pro, but, nowadays we have many options that are safe enough that can be used by you, from your house.
MY SKINCARE ROUTINE IN 2020
Hi there guys! Today I want to talk to you a little bit about skincare and how 2019 changed my approach to it. Before 2019 my skincare routine was almost non-existant, the little care I gave to my face consisted on removing my make-up, washing it some nights, and if the stars aligned, I moisturized, also, if I broke out my approach to getting rid of zits consisted on being agressive, you know, pinching and my good ol’ friend benzoyl peroxide.

As you know, I’ve become very interested in the subject of skincare, and that means I’ve been trying a lot of different brands over the last year or so, one particular brand that I’ve fallen in love with is Versed (seriously not sponsored, I just really like their products).

WHY IS VITAMIN C THE BEST THING YOU CAN PUT ON YOUR SKIN?
It wasn’t too long ago that I really started taking really good care of my skin, and while I was doing my research, I came upon several articles and videos that talked wonderfully about the use of vitamin C in your skincare regime, so I decided to try it. I ordered the L-Ascorbic Acid Powder from The Ordinary around July, but it was sold out in Mexico, so I ordered from ASOS, turns out it took forever to get here (close to three months) so right before I went to NYFW I stopped by Sally Beauty and got a vitamin C serum from korean brand Ettang (read my review of the Ettang Charcoal Mask here) and that’s when it all started.

No hace mucho que empecé a cuidar de mi piel muy bien, y mientras investigaba, me encontré varios artículos y videos que hablaban maravillas sobre el uso de vitamina C en tu rutina de cuidado de la piel, así que decidí probar. Ordené el Ácido L-Ascórbico en polvo de The Ordinary por ahí de Julio, pero en México estaba agotado, por lo que lo pedí de ASOS, resulta que tardó años en llegarme porque aduana y correos de México (tres meses más o menos) así que antes de irme a NYFW pasé por un Sally Beauty y compré un suero de vitamina C de la marca coreana Ettang (lee mi reseña de la mascarilla de carbón de Ettang aquí) y fue ahí donde todo empezó.
I started using Ettang’s Vitamin C Perfect Serum two months ago, at first I wasn’t really sure about it because vitamin C is really unstable and it oxidizes quickly which kinda makes it’s point go away, you’re using it cause it is a great anti-oxidant, so liquid versions of the thing tend to not really do anything for your skin, when I first used this the first pump came out dark orange, it was oxidized, but after that first one the liquid came out clear yellowish and smelling strongly of orange.

Empecé a usar el Vitamin C Perfect Serum de Ettang hace como dos meses, al principio le dudé porque la vitamina C es muy inestable y se oxida muy rápido lo cual básicamente invalida su punto, la usas porque es un excelente anti-oxidante, así que las versiones líquidas de la misma suelen no hacer gran cosa por tu piel, la primera vez que usé esta salió de color anaranjado oscuro, estaba oxidado, pero después de esa primera vez el líquido salía amarillo claro y transparente además de tener un fuerte olor a naranja.
After just one week of using the serum day and night after toning my skin I started to see results, my skin was no longer dull, it started to look so luminous and glowy and I was so happy about it, I even started getting compliments on how good my skin looked. Fast forward almost two months and I already finished Ettang’s serum, but in the meantime my The Ordinary package has arrived, for the last 3 weeks I’ve been using The Ordinary’s L-Ascorbic Acid Powder diluted in my moisturizer day and night, and I’m telling you, my skin couldn’t look healthier, I truly am amazed at what Vitamin C can do for your complexion, so if you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do and here are 5 more reasons:

- It has skin-healing properties.
- Prevents dark spots to appear on your skin. Protects against sun damage.
- It brightens the skin.

Después de solo una semana de usar el suero día y noche después de mi tónico comencé a ver resultados, mi piel ya no se veía opaca, comenzó a verse luminosa y brillante y estaba super contenta, hasta empecé a recibir cumplidos de lo bien que se veía. Adelantale casi dos meses y ya me acabé el suero de Ettang, pero en ese tiempo llegó mi paquete de The Ordinary así que durante las últimas 3 semanas he estado usando el Ácido L-Ascórbico en polvo de The Ordinary diluido en mi humectante, día y noche, y les digo, mi piel no podría verse más saludable, en verdad estoy sorprendida de lo que la Vitamina C puede hacer por tu piel, así que si no la has probado te sugiero lo hagas, pero aquí te dejo cinco razones por las cuales usar vitamina C para tu piel:
- Es anti-oxidante.
- Tiene propiedades restauradoras de la piel.

This year marked a change in my selfcare routine, cause 2019 was the year I really got into skincare, like, reaaaallyyyy into skincare, 2019 was the year where I developed an actual skincare routine and bought A LOT of different products to try, one of those was The Shortcut, an Overnight Facial Peel by the brand Versed and to be honest, out of all the skincare I got this year this was one of my favorites.
This is the shortcut to glowier skin. In one step, this peel works overnight while you’re far away in dreamland to resurface and renew your complexion. The blend of lactic and glycolic acid (which work together to break down dead skin cells) and vitamin A (one of the most powerful and proven anti-aging ingredients available) exfoliates, brightens, and hydrates while skin-conditioning allantoin, rosehip, and vitamin E keep skin calm. It’s pH-balanced, non-drying, and non-irritating—basically it’s a non-scary peel that won’t leave you red or flaky (just bright and refreshed). It’s even gentle enough to use on back-to-back nights, and it absorbs into your skin just like a lotion, residue-free so your pillows are safe too.

Este año marcó un cambio en mi rutina de selfcare, porque 2019 fue el año en el que me interesé mucho por el skincare, mucho, 2019 fue el año en el que cree una rutina de skincare verdadera y compré un montón de diferentes productos que probar, uno de ellos fue The Shortcut, un peeling facial que funciona durante la noche de la marca Verse y siendo honesta, de todo el skincare que compré este año, este producto fue uno de mis favoritos.
El producto funciona durante la noche para renovar tu piel. Es una mezcla de ácido láctico y glicólico (que trabajan juntos para deshacer las células muertas) y vitamina A (uno de los agentes anti-envejecimiento más poderosos y probados en el mercado) que exfolia, abrillanta e hidrata mientras allantoina, rosehip y vitamina E calman la piel. El producto tiene un pH balanceado, que no reseca, no irrita, básicamente es un peeling sin miedo que no te dejará con la piel descarapelada o enrojecida, (solo luminosa y refrescada). Es lo suficientemente suave como para usarlo varias noches seguidas y se absorbe en la piel como una crema, por lo que tus sábanas están seguras.
I’ve been using this product for the past three months, I use it twice a week, and I’ve seen such good results, on the mornings after I’ve used it my skin feels the softest and it looks so bright and luminous, I love how soft it is on my skin and that it’s making my skin look healthier, I’ve compared to the AHA + BHA 10 minute peeling by The Ordinary and I definitely like this one better, plus it is less aggressive on my skin.

He estado usando este producto durante los últimos 3 meses, lo uso dos veces a la semana y he visto resultados buenísimos, las mañanas después de que lo he usado mi piel se siente super suave y se ve tan luminosa, amo lo suave que es con mi piel y está haciendo que mi piel se vea más saludable, lo he comparado con el peeeling de 10 minutos de The Ordinary y definitivmente este me gusta más, además que es menos agresivo con mi piel.
This is a product that I think is worth every buck, I love that you can find it in two different sizes, and I think this is something that I’ll be re-purchasing over and over as it is so good, I also love that this brand is a clean skincare brand free of bad chemicals like parabens, so I can use it with the confidence that what I’m putting on my skin won’t be bad for it in the long run.

Este es un producto que creo que vale cada centavo, y amo que puedes encontrarlo en dos tamaños diferentes, y creo también que es un producto que volveré a comprar en el futuro porque en verdad es un producto tan bueno, además amo que es una marca limpia de productos para la piel, o sea, libre de químicos malos como los parabenos, así que lo puedo usar con la confianza de que lo que estoy poniéndome en mi cara no es nada tóxico ni dañino para mi piel.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH KOREAN FACIALS
I recently got invited to live the Korean facial experience, so on a Friday evening I went to the K-beauty bar near my place, as soon as I went in I loved everything about the atmosphere of the place, think dim lights, soft relaxing music and aromatherapy.

Hace un par de semanas me invitaron a vivir la experiencia de un facial Coreano, así que un Viernes por la tarde fui a BananaMiinK que es el lugar donde los hacen, en cuanto llegué amé toda la atmósfera del lugar, luces bajitas, música relajante, aromaterapia.
First you’re given jazmin tea to relax and the put on you these pressotherapy boots that massage your feet and legs while you’re sitting there getting the facial done.

En cuanto llegas te dan un té relajante, yo elegí de jazmín; después te ponen unas botas de presoterapia que le dan masaje a tus piernas y pies mientras te hacen el facial.
El facial consiste en los 10 pasos de skincare de la rutina Coreana, y empieza con un poquito de aromaterapia para relajar, después ya sigue el facial y va en el siguiente orden:
- Limpieza ólea
- Limpieza acuosa
- Exfoliante
- Bubble mask (mascarilla efervescente)
- Tónico
- Serum
- Mascarilla de hidrogel (en este momento te dan un masaje deli de manos, la mascarilla que te ponen es personalizada dependiendo de las necesidades de tu piel)
- Contorno de ojos
- Hidratante
- Protector Solar
- Humectación labial
- Masaje con rodillo de jade

The facial consists on the 10 step Korean skincare routine, but before beginning they give you some essential oils to smell and get relaxed, the facial goes like this:
- Oil cleanser
- Water based cleanser
- Exfoliation
- Bubble mask
- Toner
- Serum
- Facemask (the masks are tailored to your skin’s individual needs, during this process you get a delicious hand massage)
- Eye contour
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
- Lip moisturizer
- Jade roller massage
The overall experience was so relaxing, I had a great time and my skin was so soft at the end, it is one of those things that you can do at least once a month to pamper yourself, because, you know, self-care.
